CONTEXT
The site of this project is at 595 S Foch St, Truth or Consequences, New Mexico 87901, which is adjacent to the Rio Grande River and Caballo Mountain Range.

Currently a desolate warehouse spanning 9,000 sq. ft. with a 6,000 sq. ft. empty lot, there is untapped potential to not only unify the outdoor and indoor space but to also unify the site as a whole into the beautiful New Mexican landscape painted with the Caballo Mountains and the Milky Way.
Project Proposal
The questions that guided my design were:
1) How could I merge landscape as architecture and vice-versa on a micro-scale within the site?
2) How could I immerse this site into the macro-scale landscape of Truth or Consequences, NM?
True to the city’s name, this project proposal aims to be both a place of:
1) Truth: An introspective experience promoting tranquility and inner peace.
2) Consequence: An extrospective experience promoting reaching out of oneself and observing the external experience.
Design Process

Site Plan
I created 3 distinct section cuts to showcase the intricate programming and feel of the site.

Programming
The proposed plan employs 10 main programs that are flexible and promote both introspective and extrospective experiences to further encourage and align with the mission of Truth as the inner journey and Consequence as the reflection of yourself outwardly.

Sections
Section A is the most telling of the sections because it shows how space is not only tied together physically through this diagonal plane but showcases the sight-lines. The purple one from the pool area. The yellow one from the sunken seating (dry pool) area, and the landscape theater.

Section B showcases the dynamism and constant tension between what is inside and outside space.
Section C illuminates the tranquility of the outdoor courtyard and how one can experience outdoor performances through the wet and dry seating pools.

3D Modeled Perspectives

Perspective overview of the Unity project proposal.

The courtyard pool area. The sunken seating that connects to the inside via horizontal plane and materiality.

A quaint space for oneself to read underneath the apricot tree. Close enough to feel part of the action. Far away enough to feel isolated.

Shaded social area with hammocks and outdoor furniture.

The landscape theater and zen garden.

The feeling of immersion into the galactic landscape present in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.
360° VR Immersions
Did I succeed in converging landscape, architecture, and the greater context while creating a polyvalent space that caters to introspective and extrospective experience?
I hypothesize I did. Here's why:
I created an introspective rooftop zen garden oriented towards Caballo Cone and the surrounding mountain range. The axis of the seating is oriented towards the mountains range to create a landscape theater: to be a place to reflect, ponder, and draw inspiration from.
Similarly to how there is a visual connection between the landscape pool and sunken seating with the architectural performance space. There is a visual connection of the architectural site as a whole to the greater landscape. Making a multi-layered physical and visual immersion in and out of the space.
